The other half of the group was given a placebo for the same amount of time. At the end of the study the supplement and diet group lost 4% body weight while the placebo and diet group did not. Dropouts were also higher in the placebo group than the supplement one.
If 500mg of HCA is ingested along with 2g/kg of carbohydrate right after exercising, humans show a small increase in the rate of glycogen resynthesis. Oral ingestion of Garcinia Cambogia leaves was able to improve urine output (in the range of 17-39% aqueous or 36-72% ethanolic). Ingestion of the supplement was also able to successfully normalize an increase in serum levels of creatinine and urea, which is believed to help with kidney impairment. The polyphenolic component and iron content of the seeds are thought to slightly increase testosterone and also the red blood cell count.
